My son had a day off from school recently so we visited our local Legoland Discovery Center. We had such a fun day together. Although I did receive the passes for free from US Family Guide, my opinions are my own.
I loved everything about visiting Legoland Discovery Center. Even the entry to the center was cute. After we entered Legoland Discovery Center, you take an elevator to enter the center. Just inside from the entry, there is a place to take a picture just before entering the center which I purchased.
I had to snap a picture of the waiting room. It really helped you get excited to get into the to Legoland Discovery Center. There is a clock counting down for when you get to enter the center. And the mini-figurines move although they aren't exactly minis for the display.
Right inside the Legoland Discovery Center, there is a annimated Lego displace featuring Star Wars. My boys were very intereted in the Millennium Falcon. The Millennium Falcon raises up and moves along with a soundtrack that plays. It was a crowd pleaser for sure.
Along with the other displays, there was a life size r2d2 and C-3PO. My kids haven't seen any of the Star Wars movies since they are a little too young but I think they have seen the Lego versions.
After the Star Wars display, we visited Kansas City. There were some really great Lego displays of the Kansas City skyline. You see the only National World War I memorial in the first picture.
In this picture, the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts is on display made completely out of legos. Also, in the picture is Union Station and Bartle Hall.
With the Kansas City Royals, I had to share the Lego display of Kauffman Stadium. I can safely say most Kansas City Royals fans hope that the World Series comes back to Kansas City for the final win with our boys in blue.
And of course being that we are so close to Kansas, we have the Yellow Brick Road and Emerald City.
I would love to know how they created the Emerald City out of Legos.
After you make your way through the displays, you reach your first Lego Ride. And then we made our way to play with the Legos. The Legos are soft foam for the kids so you don't worry about your kids getting hurt.
After playing in the soft Legos pit, we moved to the Lego Racetracks. You can see that my youngest as he gets ready to to send his cars down the racetrack.
And my sons are working on building the next coolest car to send down the racetracks.
Now what Lego lover would not be in Lego Heaven with the heap of Legos to build with? When my kids are playing with Legos, my living room almost looks this. Thankfully, I don't have to clean up these Legos or step on them when walking through my living room.
You can even play Karaoke in the Living Room. With the Madonna song,
"Holiday," playing I was tempted myself to get up and sing but I choose to not embarass myself and my kids. The kitchen looks like so much fun to play in the room.
One of the many things that I liked about visiting Legoland Discovery Center in Kansas City is that it is all indoors. So you can visit year-round and not have to worry about the weather. Have you visited Legoland Discovery Center? Have a HOPtastic day!!
